WASHINGTON (AP) -- Singer St. Vincent and multimedia artist Doug Aitken are being honored with American Ingenuity Awards at the Smithsonian, along with eight others.
Smithsonian magazine is awarding the prize Tuesday to honor innovators in the arts, science, technology and culture.
Annie Clark, whose stage name is St. Vincent, is being honored in the performing arts for her solo albums and her more recent collaboration with David Byrne.
Aitken is being honored for his new installation "Mirror" at the Seattle Art Museum. The piece changes to reflect the city's weather, traffic and other activity.
Other honorees include Dave Eggers and Mimi Lok of the nonprofit group Voice of Witness, which uses oral history to bring stories of human rights injustices into high schools. Others will be honored in education, science and technology.
