D.C. restaurant mentioned in James Patterson’s new book

WASHINGTON – Author James Patterson is giving a nod to a D.C. restaurant in his latest book, “Mistress.”

In the book, Patterson mentions Firefly, the restaurant located in the Kimpton Hotel in Dupont Circle.

The passage recalls dishes that actually appeared on the menu — like blue cheese dates, a mini pot roast and beer-battered pickles.

Firefly head chef Todd Wiss says while he hasn’t seen Patterson dine there before, he’s now on the lookout to give the author his thanks.

Wiss thinks the items Patterson’s characters dine on in the novel could be the author’s favorites. But the restaurant, known for its seasonal and local menu, can’t promise those items will be available when he dines there again.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity. We’re a very neighborhoody restaurant and that’s his style, so we’re happy to be a part of it,” Wiss says.
