SEVERN, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County's new police chief took part in a 5-mile pursuit of a vehicle in Severn.
Police say Chief Kevin Davis, who became chief on July 15, was a passenger in an unmarked SUV being driven by Lt. T.J. Smith on Tuesday morning.
Officials say the two saw a car serving on Route 32 and tried to pull the car over by activating the police vehicle's emergency lights and siren.
The Capital of Annapolis reports (http://bit.ly/14448EA) that Smith and Davis called for a marked police car to assist. A cruiser responded, but the car's driver did not stop.
Stop sticks were deployed and the car came to a halt.
Davis talked with the driver, who was arrested.
Fifty-one-year-old Sandra Faye Davis of Severn was charged with driving while impaired.
