ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Naval Academy Museum will be closed on Mondays for the rest of the summer due to furloughs mandated by the impact of federal budget cuts.
The academy announced Friday that the museum will remain open during normal hours on Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, the War 1812 exhibit in Mahan Hall will be open on Mondays.
The closing is due to the impact of mandated furloughs on civilian workers due to automatic cuts due to the budget battle in Washington.
The academy says it's expected the museum will return to normal hours Sept. 29.
