SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- The director of the Salisbury Zoo is leaving to become vice president and general curator of the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.
The Daily Times (http://tinyurl.com/cphtmvr) reports that Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton announced Joel Hamilton's departure at a dedication ceremony Friday for the zoo's new Australia exhibit.
Hamilton says it's an opportunity to work in a "larger facility with a wider variety of animals." He says he will miss Salisbury.
Under Hamilton, the zoo has unveiled a new logo and website, broken ground for a new animal health clinic and shored up its fundraising.
