Colonial Williamsburg team scores Emmys

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — The creative forces behind Colonial Williamsburg’s Electronic Field Trip television program have walked away with regional Emmy awards for the program “The Global Economy.”

The honors went to a producer, director/editor, director of photography and sound recorder. A freelance scriptwriter also won an Emmy.

The Emmys were awarded at the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

“The Global Economy” premiered March 14, 2013. It’s about worldwide 18th century trade and manufacturing. The complex topic is aimed at students in grades 4 through 8, so puppetry is used to convey information.

The Electronic Field Trip is produced by Colonial Williamsburg’s Production, Publications and Learning Ventures. Programs are broadcast one Thursday each month from October through April.
