HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- Marcus Thornton scored 26 Sunday as William & Mary escaped a wild finish at James Madison 81-79.

Omar Prewitt's free throws put the Tribe up 81-77 with 7 seconds left, and then Thornton fouled Ron Curry 4 seconds later on a 3-point attempt for JMU.

Curry made the first two and missed the third on purpose. Andrey Semenov grabbed the rebound and got a shot off at the buzzer, but it fell short and the Tribe hung on for the win.

Semenov closed the Dukes within two on a 3-pointer with 10 seconds to go after the Tribe had a 73-67 lead with 1:48 to play.

Tim Rusthoven added 16 points, Brandon Britt had 11 and Prewitt scored 10 for the Tribe (13-8, 5-3 Colonial Athletic Association).

Semenov had 23 points for JMU (8-14, 3-5). Andre Nation added 18 points, Charles Cooke scored 15 and Curry had 11.
