RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Hundreds of teachers and school employees are gathering in Richmond for the Virginia Education Association's annual two-day conference.

The VEA says the theme of this year's meeting is "Reforming School Reform." It begins Friday night and concludes Saturday afternoon.

National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel will give the keynote address on opening night. He will then participate in a panel discussion of school reform trends. Other panelists are state Del. Steve Landes, Salem Public Schools Superintendent Alan Seibert and Virginia Board of Education member Joan Wodiska.

Saturday's agenda includes sessions on technology in the classroom, assessment and developing better readers.
