Carrollton residents unsettled by girl's abduction

Friday - 11/15/2013, 4:40pm  ET

CARROLLTON, Va. -- Residents in the Isle of Wight County community of Carrollton remain unnerved six weeks after the abduction and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl taken from a school bus stop.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1784aKy) reports police have received more than 400 tips about the Oct. 2 incident, but no arrests have been made.

Josh Lee moved his family to Carrollton from Newport News before the school year began. He says the abduction has changed his family's habits.

Resident Mike Bauer says he's unsettled both by the abduction and the fact that a suspect hasn't been caught.

Investigators believe a male attacker took the girl into Suffolk and North Carolina before dropping her back near the bus stop about noon. His vehicle is described as an older silver or white two-door Chevrolet.
