NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- A Norfolk student accused of bringing a loaded gun to school is in police custody.
Norfolk Public Schools spokeswoman Karen Tanner tells media outlets that security officers at Maury High School found the weapon on the student during a search. The officers searched the 10th-grader after they saw him re-enter the building Monday morning.
The weapon was seized without incident. Tanner didn't say what type of gun was found.
Tanner says Norfolk police took the student into custody and removed him from the building.
She says the incident didn't disrupt the school day.
