CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) -- More than 30 graves have been found by researchers at the Eppington Plantation in Chesterfield County.

But none of the graves found at a family cemetery is that of Thomas Jefferson's daughter Lucy. She is believed to be buried there.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch ( ) reports that researchers used ground-penetrating radar to survey the cemetery for Chesterfield County and the Eppington Foundation.

The researchers found 19 graves of adults, 16 graves of infants and three vaults that might hold adults and infants.

Francis Epps VI built the plantation house near the Appomattox River in the late 18th century. After Jefferson's wife died, he brought his daughters, Maria and Lucy, to live there.

The county acquired the plantation house and 43 acres in 1989. The foundation owns 376 acres nearby.
