Loudoun County light display set to ‘The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)’ goes viral

WASHINGTON – For the third year in a row, a Virginia house is getting in the Halloween spirit and gaining Internet fame in the process with its light displays set to music — this year with the ubiquitous “What Does the Fox Say?”.

A Leesburg, Va., house adorned with 8,500 bulbs features jack-o-lantern-like faces singing Ylvis’ “The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)” and a video of the display has garnered more than 457,000 views on YouTube as of Wednesday. The viral Norwegian hit has amassed more than 150 million YouTube views itself since early September.

Also featured this season at the three-year-old Edwards Landing Lights display are AWOL Nation’s “Sail,” Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and “Ghosts N Stuff” by DeadMau5.

This isn’t the first year the light display has turned heads. In 2012, its “Gangnam Style” display received more than 3 million views on YouTube, while its 2011 light show to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” had more than 43,000 YouTube views.

Viewers can visit the Loudoun County home and tune into 98.1 FM to hear the music. The lights run on a continuous loop from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to the display’s Facebook page, which even lists some rules for spectators in a move to respect the neighbors. Edwards Landing Lights does not reveal the address of the display on its pages, but will send the address through individual requests on Facebook.

This year, those who view the light display can help a good cause, too. The display is collecting money to benefit the John Hopkins Children’s Center. Visitors can drop donations in a box at the residence or text “Hopkins” to 50555 to donate $10 to Hopkins Children’s, according to the Edwards Landing Lights Facebook page.

“Please give what you can. Every dollar counts,” the page requests.
