DOSWELL, Va. (AP) -- With flawless weather during its first full week, the sponsors of the State Fair of Virginia are asking visitors to consider alternative travel routes during the final three days of the annual agricultural attraction.
The Doswell fair wraps up its 10-day run Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With more sunny skies in the forecast, fair officials are suggesting visitors think about taking less-traveled roads to avoid busy Interstate 95.
The fair's venue at The Meadow Event Park is just off I-95 but also accessible via U.S. Routes 1 and Route 301.
Spokesman Greg Hicks says fair visitors using alternate routes are likely to spend more time at the fair and less time in traffic.
Once you arrive at the fairgrounds, parking is free. Courtesy trams transport fairgoers to the ticket turnstiles.
