WASHINGTON – Nearly a dozen robberies in three Virginia jurisdictions since August have sparked a joint police investigation as authorities believe they may be linked.

Law enforcement in Fairfax and Prince William counties and in Fredericksburg say the suspects have targeted convenience stores, gas stations, a fast food restaurant and a 22-year-old woman in the spree they believe began at a Prince William Sunoco station on Aug. 9.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous and authorities warn residents to call 911 if they spot the suspects, rather than approach them.

Further, store employees should be cautious of anyone wearing clothing abnormal for the weather, such as hooded sweatshirts.

The most recent incident occurred Wednesday, Sept. 11 at about 1 p.m. at a convenience store at 6550 Edsall Rd. in the Alexandria area. Two men reportedly assaulted a cashier, took money and left.

Police say both suspects are black, between 20 and 26 years old and about 150 to 180 pounds. One was wearing black clothing, along with a gray baseball hat with a white insignia. He is described as between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build.

The other suspect wore a hooded sweatshirt and black pants, and reportedly is about 6 feet tall.
