RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A Richmond developer accused of misusing historic tax credits is facing felony charges.
Media outlets report that a Richmond Circuit Court grand jury indicted Billy G. Jefferson Jr. on Tuesday on forgery and uttering public records charges.
Jefferson is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 15.
Virginia State Police arrested Jefferson on the charges in April, along with six tax-related charges. The state dropped the tax-related charges in July.
Historic federal and state tax credits offset the cost of renovating historic buildings.
