RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A former civilian contractor from Richmond has pleaded guilty to stealing two electric generators from a U.S. military base in Iraq.
Ruebin S. Thomas of Richmond pleaded guilty to theft of government property Thursday in U.S. District Court. A charge of making a false statement was dismissed in a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 21. Thomas faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Thomas worked for Honeywell Technologies at the Camp Victory Base Complex in Baghdad. The indictment accused him of stealing two generators valued at $176,000 each in June 2009. He will be required to make restitution.
