RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Richmond has settled a lawsuit alleging the city hasn't addressed complaints that one of its departments discriminated against black workers.
The lawsuit also alleged that the city didn't prevent retaliation against workers who made the complaints about the Department of Public Utilities.
Eight pipefitters filed the federal lawsuit in 2012. They were among 12 employees who filed a discrimination complaint with the city Department of Human Resources in March 2011.
U.S. District Judge John A. Gibney dismissed the case last week.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1bUBB7k ) reports that both sides declined to comment on the settlement.
