Friday - 7/5/2013, 3:19am  ET

PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Gate access and some customer service operations at Fort Lee will see changes when civilian employees begin furloughs next week.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1cVUJx2) reports that most of Fort Lee's 5,000 civilian employees will be off Fridays for 11 weeks.

During the furlough period, Fort Lee will reduce operating hours at most access gates. The Shop Road Gate will be fully closed.

The Fort Lee Commissary will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The Army Education Center will be closed on Fridays.

All hunting activities on the base will be canceled on Fridays.

Kenner Army Health Clinic's main facility on A Avenue will operate on a reduced schedule each Friday.

Fort Lee Exchange facilities and Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation facilities aren't affected by the furloughs.
