WASHINGTON – As the July 4 holiday falls during the week, many government services and normal parking regulations have been modified.
Transportation/Parking:
On Metro rail, there is free parking if travelers are using Metro over the holiday weekend.
Metro Bus has scheduled detours for Arlington County buses
Parking at the New Carrollton garage next to the Amtrak station is collecting fees on Garden City Drive.
Normal parking rates apply at garages around National Harbor
At Nationals Park, DDOT confirms drivers have to feed the meters on July 4 around the ballpark.
Liquor stores:
ABC stores are open until 6 p.m.
ABC stores in Montgomery County are open at the owner’s discretion.
Trash collection
There is no trash collection in the District. Pick-ups slide to the next day.
In Anne Arundel county, there is no collection on Thursday.
In Montgomery County, Thursday and Friday collections slide forward one day. In Prince George’s county, collection will be made on the next regularly scheduled day.
In Howard county, Thursday trash collection is on Friday and both Friday and Saturday collection will be on Saturday.
In Alexandria, trash and recycling programs will be Friday, July 5.
