ROANOKE, Va. (AP) -- Baptists from nearly 1,000 predominantly black congregations across Virginia are gathering in Roanoke for their annual convention.
Up to 2,000 people are expected to attend the Baptist General Convention of Virginia's 114th annual Session and Congress of Christian Education. It opened Sunday and continues through Thursday.
The five-day convention is being held in Roanoke for the first time since 1996.
The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/12Bbesp ) reports that session topics will include using social media to spread messages and mass media's influence on young people's views of body image and sex.
