NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia state senator says her email account has been hacked by someone who says she's stranded in France and needs money to get home.
Sen. Louise Lucas tells the Virginian Pilot (http://bit.ly/ZMezbb ) this is at least the fourth time in the past year that her contacts have received bogus emails attributed to her.
In the latest incident, the culprit posing as Lucas says in an email titled "Horrible Trip" that she's stuck in France without her wallet or cellphone. It asks for a $2,000 loan.
Lucas actually is at home recuperating from an ailing back.
She says she's assigned the technology specialist at her company to look into the matter, contacted her Internet service provider and informed law enforcement. So far, none of those steps has remedied the problem.
