ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Federal officials say there was a close call between a military helicopter and an airliner coming in to land at Reagan National Airport.
NBC4 reported Saturday (http://bit.ly/126ZEMv ) that the National Transportation Safety Board would be looking into the incident that happened Friday afternoon.
The FAA said in a statement that Republic Airlines flight 3281, an Embraer E170 aircraft, was coming in to land when a military UH-60 helicopter briefly climbed to the same altitude of 400 feet as the airplane.
The helicopter climbed to a higher altitude after air traffic controllers advised the pilots. The plane circled around again and landed safely a few minutes later. No injuries or damage was reported.
