LAWRENCEVILLE, Va. (AP) -- A cancer resource clearinghouse is coming to southern Virginia.
The Cancer Resource Center of Southern Virginia is scheduled to open Monday in Lawrenceville. It is located at the Russell Memorial Library at St. Paul's College.
The center's mission is to assist residents with the availability of local, state and national cancer programs. It also plans to develop a cancer task force with local care providers, community leaders and other health care professionals.
The Resource Center is supported by VCU Massey Cancer Center and funded in part through a grant from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. The physical space for the Resource Center was provided by St. Paul's College.
