VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- Nearly 15 years after a woman was raped in Virginia Beach, her rapist has been brought to justice.
A jury this week found 30-year-old Devinche Albritton guilty of the rape and assault of Jamie Ryals in 1999.
Officials recovered DNA from her attacker, but attempts at the time to match it came up empty.
Eleven years later, investigators were able to make a match.
The results pointed to Albritton, who already was serving an 18-year prison sentence for a similar rape about three months prior to Ryals'.
Wednesday, Albritton was found guilty. He was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison.
Ryals gave permission to The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/12k72QF) for her name to be published. She now lives in rural Georgia.
