BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia man is behind bars facing charges that he killed his wife more than a decade after she died from what was originally reported as choking on a piece of chicken.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that 70-year-old Mark Ward Faville Jr. was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder in the March 7, 2000 death of his wife, Anne Michelle "Mickey" Faville. The 52-year-old Anne Faville was a fifth-grade teacher in Montgomery County.
After initially blaming the death on choking, the sheriff's office first classified her death as a homicide in 2001.
Media outlets report the sheriff's office says new evidence recently came to light that allowed authorities to move forward with the case.
Faville is being held in Western Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
