EMORY, Va. -- Emory & Henry College has a new president.
The board of trustees of the private, liberal arts college in southwest Virginia announced the selection Monday of Jake B. Schrum. The current president of Southwestern University in Texas will begin work at Emory & Henry on Aug. 1.
Schrum replaces Rosalind Reichard, who announced her plans to retire last fall.
Schrum is the second former Southwestern University president to serve as president of Emory & Henry. William Carrington Finch was Emory & Henry's president from 1965 to 1970.
Nearly 1,000 students attend Emory & Henry, which was founded in 1836.
