5 from Va. win Marine Corps Heritage honors

TRIANGLE, Va. (AP) -- Five Virginians are among the 20 award recipients of the 2013 Marine Corps Heritage Foundation Awards.

The recipients will be recognized Saturday at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in northern Virginia. The awards recognize outstanding and creative work in preserving and sharing the Marine Corps' history and tradition.

The five are retired Lt. General Ron Christmas of Stafford, former president and CEO of the foundation; author Gail Shisler of Fairfax; FBI supervisory agent Paul Shannon of McLean; retired Marine Corps combat artist Michael D. Fay of Fredericksburg; and Marine Lance Cpl. Ian Bush, who is stationed at Marine Corps Base, Quantico. He is being honored for his still photography.
