VCU receives $2.4M for heart research

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A dozen cardiovascular research projects at Virginia Commonwealth University are getting financial support from the American Heart Association.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/WvhtOn ) reports that the university received grants totaling more than $2 million from the association's Mid-Atlantic Affiliate this week.
Since 1972, VCU has received more than $12 million from the heart association for cardiovascular research projects.
