PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Fort Lee is upgrading its military housing in Petersburg.
Fort Lee is constructing 45 duplexes in the Monroe Manor neighborhood. They'll replace 90 single-family homes that were built more than a half-century ago.
Fort Lee says the duplexes will be nearly identical to existing homes in Monroe Manor. They'll feature one-car garages for junior enlisted ranks and two-car garages for senior enlisted ranks.
In addition, two general officer quarters and a home for the top enlist rank are being built in the Washington Grove neighborhood.
Construction in Washington Grove should be complete by August, while the duplexes should be finished by August 2014.
