SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk has signed a development agreement that will pave the way for the creation of a replica of a 17th century Indian Village.

The agreement with the Nansemond Indian Tribal Association was signed on Friday.

It allows for the transfer of 100 acres of riverfront property at Lone Star Lakes. The $8 million project will include a cultural center, hiking trails, gift shop and burial ground.

The tribe hopes the village, to be called Mattanock Town, will draw up to 50,000 paying visitors annually.
