NORFOLK, Va. - The Navy says about 4,000 sailors aboard the USS Eisenhower are back in Virginia after a six-month deployment.
Officials say the ship returned to its homeport at Norfolk Naval Station on Wednesday ahead of schedule.
The Eisenhower returned early from a previously scheduled nine-month deployment in order to make preparations to redeploy in late February.
During its deployment, members of the Eisenhower carrier strike group conducted maritime security operations, security cooperation efforts, and missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
