Thursday - 11/29/2012, 8:27pm  ET

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - A Virginia man has pleaded not guilty to charges related to a Montana highway chase in which he is accused of throwing pipe bombs at pursuing officers.

The Great Falls Tribune reports Laurence Alan Stewart II entered his plea Thursday before District Judge Kenneth Neil in Great Falls.

Stewart has been charged with attempted deliberate homicide and criminal endangerment. He was arrested near Belt Nov. 1 after authorities say he led officers on a 40-mile chase in a stolen car while throwing pipe bombs that exploded near his pursuers.

Prosecutors say Stewart also has 13 outstanding warrants in Virginia for allegedly detonating pipe bombs at homes there.

Stewart is in custody in lieu of $2 million bail. A trial date has been set for March 18.
