RADFORD, Va. - The southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Radford are closed following the death of a pedestrian.
Virginia State Police tell media outlets that a man was hit by a vehicle around 6:40 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 108 and the Virginia 787 overpass. The victim's name hasn't been released.
Sgt. Rob Carpentieri says the accident remains under investigation.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says motorists should take exit 109 into Radford and then return to the southbound lanes at exit 105.
