SANDSTON, Va. - A Virginia National Guard aviation battalion is honoring about 300 soldiers for their service in Iraq.
Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Battalion's 224th Aviation Regiment are set to gather Sunday at the Richmond Convention Center.
As part of the Freedom Salute ceremony, the soldiers are scheduled to receive the Virginia Governor's National Service Medal.
The soldiers served in Iraq from April to December 2011. No members of the battalion were killed or seriously wounded in action.
