CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Police say most of the arrests at this year's Foxfield Races in Albemarle County were alcohol-related.
The Albemarle County Police Department says in a news release that officers made 61 arrests during the annual steeplechase races on April 28. Charges included public intoxication, underage possession of alcohol and possession of fictitious identification.
Officers also issued 37 summonses for motor vehicle violations, including seat belt and state inspection infractions.
Media outlets report that more than 24,000 attended the races.
Last year, there were 55 arrests and 61 traffic citations.
