WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) - A mature bald eagle that tangled with another bird is returning to the wild after recovering from its injuries.
The eagle will be released Wednesday at the Land's End Wildlife Management Area in King George County, according the Wildlife Center of Virginia.
The Waynesboro research hospital for wildlife and conservation medicine says the eagle was admitted Nov. 13 after an animal control officer in King George County found the injured bird. The bird was administered anti-inflammatories and pain medications for a bruised elbow.
The eagle then underwent rehabilitation in the Wildlife Center's flight pen.
State game and natural resources officials are expected to be on hand to witness the eagle's release.
