Georgetown Cafe building sold to bridal boutique

The run-down former home of the Georgetown Café on Wisconsin Avenue will be reborn this winter as Carine’s Bridal Atelier, after the bridal retailer purchased the building to relocate her store.

Carine Krawiec purchased 1623 Wisconsin Ave. NW for $2.1 million, or roughly $339 per square foot, according to Marcus & Millichap’s Josh Feldman, who represented the seller, a private investor out of Potomac.

The 6,200-square-foot building is divided on three levels. Georgetown Café has been closed for the past several years and the building will require significant renovations.

Krawiec plans to begin renovations as soon as possible and hopes to have the new store opened by “early winter 2014,” she said in an email. Her existing location, just a block away at 1726 Wisconsin Ave. NW, will close once the new boutique is ready.
