WASHINGTON - Leaves are just falling from the cherry trees, so what's up with the talk about the Cherry Blossom Festival?

For the first time ever, locals singers are invited to compete for a chance to perform in the National Cherry Blossom Parade on Saturday, April 12. It's part of the first annual Sing Into Spring Competition, but you'll have to spring into action right now.

Submissions will be accepted online only through Nov. 15.

A selection committee will choose up to 20 finalists to move on and perform live at Hard Rock Café in early January. At that event, up to four artists will be chosen to perform in the National Cherry Blossom Parade.

The competition is open to all residents in the District, Maryland and Virginia, ages 8 and up.
