WASHINGTON (AP) -- A D.C. jail inmate has been found dead in an apparent suicide.
The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/1csdVXt ) that the death of 53-year-old Mike Johnson of Washington appears to be fourth suicide since November at the facility. It comes about a months after Corrections Department chief Tom Faust announced that his office was reviewing policies to make sure all available resources were devoted to preventing future suicides.
The department says Johnson apparently handed himself in his cell and after resuscitation efforts, he was taken to the Prince George's Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The department says Johnson was charged with first-degree sexual abuse while armed and sent to the jail Dec. 31.
An investigation is underway.
