WASHINGTON - A 48-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday after he was convicted of luring a woman into his car and trying to sexually assault her.

Ronnie Moore, of Washington D.C., stopped his car at a bus station at the intersection of Branch and Pennsylvania avenues on March 10, 2012 to offer a young woman a ride. He told the 19-year-old he knew her mother, who he mentioned by name, and the victim accepted the ride, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Once inside the car, Moore complimented the woman's looks and offered her money for sex. When the victim refused, Moore threatened to kill her. The victim punched Moore in the face and a struggle ensued. The victim eventually got out of the car, leaving behind a few personal items.

Several months later on June 20, the victim saw Moore at a grocery store on Alabama Avenue. She and a relative confronted him, then reported the sighting to a police officer, who arrested Moore.

Moore pleaded guilty to charges of assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual abuse and felony threats.

Moore must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and will be placed on 10 years of supervised release after completion of his prison term, the release says.
