WASHINGTON (AP) -- District of Columbia firefighters are returning to the Capitol Hill neighborhood where a massive fire ripped through a hardware store this week.
Representatives from the fire department plan to be in the area Saturday morning to help coordinate smoke alarm installation for residents and to provide fire safety education and CPR information.
The fire Wednesday evening destroyed Frager's Hardware, which neighbors consider a cherished neighborhood landmark. Plumes of smoke could be seen for miles, including over the dome of the U.S. Capitol.
Mayor Vincent Gray plans Sunday to discuss plans for a recovery of the decades-old business.
