D.C. man pleads guilty to killing girl he met online

WASHINGTON – A D.C. man is pleading guilty in the January murder of a Maryland girl he met online.

Alexander Buckley, 22, entered his plea in D.C. Superior Court.

Buckley met 18-year-old Siohban Lee though social media site, Tagged, which allows users to see profiles and photographs posted by other users. Eventually, Buckley and Lee exchanged numbers, according to government evidence.

In the early morning of Jan. 25, the two agreed to meet up. Buckley gave Lee instructions on how to take the bus to Georgia Avenue in northwest D.C. When they met near the intersection of 5th and Nicholson streets, Buckley shot Lee behind her left ear, killing her, according to a news release.

Buckley took Lee’s iPhone and iPod Touch, and left her purse behind. Police arrested Buckley hours later by tracking Lee’s cell phone.

Buckley is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 22.
