D.C. brewery’s ‘Mr. Mayor’ beer is nod to city politics

WASHINGTON – A D.C. Brewery is giving a nod to the District’s political scene, creating a brew made with marionberries.

Chocolate City Beer is introducing “Mr. Mayor,” an oak-aged imperial stout, on Feb. 2 at its brewery on 8th St. NE, reports DCist.

Marionberries are a type of blackberry engineered in the 1950s by the Department of Agriculture and scientists at Oregon State University, the report says.

This is the ad put up on YouTube Tuesday:

The brewery says “Mister Mayor” was brewed with marionberries then aged for seven months in Copper Fox Whiskey Barrels. It has 11.5 percent alcohol. They are not making the direct correlation between the brew and Councilmember Marion Barry.
