D.C. police investigate 2 fatal shootings in SE

WASHINGTON (AP) - D.C. police are investigating two fatal shootings in Southeast over the weekend.
The first happened Saturday night in the 5000 block of Ayers Place, where officers found 22-year-old Darnell Rivers dead inside a car.
The second occurred just after midnight on Sunday in the 3400 block of Croffut Place. The victim in that shooting has been identified as 23-year-old Angelo Alphonso Payne. Police say Payne was found unconscious and later died at a hospital.
Homicide detectives are investigating both shootings, and no arrests were immediately announced.
