WASHINGTON - Outgoing D.C. Councilmember Michael A. Brown says he's "moving toward" a run for a vacant council seat in an April special election.
In an appearance Wednesday on NewsChannel 8's "NewsTalk" program, Brown repeatedly deflected questions about whether he was running. But he says he's spoken to voters around the District of Columbia who want him to continue fighting for jobs, affordable housing and the social safety net.
Brown also says he will change his voter registration back to the Democratic Party on Jan. 2. Brown became an independent to run for a council seat reserved for members of non-majority parties.
Brown was defeated in his bid for a second term by independent David Grosso, who raised questions about Brown's ability to manage his personal and campaign finances.
