WASHINGTON (AP) - Officials in Washington are celebrating the graduation of 22 people from the city's Drug Court program by hosting a cookout.
Thursday's graduation and cookout are being held at Fort Lincoln Park in northeast Washington. The celebration is also in honor of National Recovery Month, which celebrates people who are recovering from mental health problems and or substance abuse disorders.
Washington's Drug Court program accepts certain people facing criminal charges. If accepted, participants get intense treatment and regular testing for drug abuse. If successful, participants are eligible for reduced sentences or having certain charges dropped.
