SMITHFIELD, Va. - Divers have recovered the body of a teenager who died after a canoe capsized in the Pagan River in Smithfield.
The Coast Guard says the 17-year-old male was with two other people when the accident occurred Wednesday morning. The others were able to swim to shore.
The victim hasn't been identified. His body was recovered about 10 a.m. by members of the Virginia State Police scuba team.
The Coast Guard says the teen wasn't wearing a life jacket.
