Gentlemen, start your engines

WASHINGTON – This is the best time of year to be a sports fan.

If you like big events, there will be a major one taking place nearly every weekend over the next six months.

It already started Down Under with the Australian Open the past two weeks, and it really kicks off with the Super Bowl.

That will be followed by NASCAR’s Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, which runs Feb. 26.

Then it’s March, a WHOLE MONTH of Madness. And the week the NCAA Championship game is played, the baseball season begins, plus The Masters tees off at Augusta.

April also brings the NFL Draft, plus the NBA and NHL playoffs.  Both those postseasons will run till June. That’s when tennis plays the French Open and golf holds the U.S. Open.

In July, it’s Wimbledon, the British Open and the Tour de France.

And if all that isn’t enough, the London Summer Olympics begin in late July.

Yep, there’s something for everyone. So if you’re a big event person, it doesn’t get any better starting right now.

You may want a bigger TV.
